Buying a vintage piece online calls for a little more caution than buying in a shop. You can't hold the piece, can't put a loupe on the hallmarks, and have to rely on the photos, the description and the seller's reputation. Check four things: clear return terms (a 14-day right of return is reasonable), macro shots of hallmarks and damage, whether a certificate or valuation is included on higher-value pieces, and whether shipping is insured and tracked.
The guide below collects Dutch webshops that take vintage and antique jewellery seriously — with their own curation, their own expertise and clear terms.
